  2. @frankenspock I don't know what the hell a VCR may be, but my clock flashes like that. You know how to fix it?

  5. @exador23 No. So many XMPP bots, too little similarity in command structure. This one uses /, that one uses ., the other uses ! and some of the exotic types prefer a # My addled brain gets confused.

  8. Fark! It's iPad day and the slavering dogs heard Pavlov's bell. They're gathered around me now.

  10. Lucid also failed to recognize the mic in my netbook. Not that I use it that much, but still...

  11. @brews Not really. I like Arch a lot. I like looking at what Ubuntu's put together every once in a while, but it never feels like home.

  12. Well, Lucid didn't last the evening. Aspire One was running really warm. Gwibber was dropping notices. Empathy didn't want to behave. Back to Arch. Now comes the fun of recreating my desktop the way I like it.

  13. Strike one: Options in Empathy that don't actually do anything. If the protocol doesn't support it, disable the option. #

  14. @mv No idea. Arch has become my fallback distro. I like to try other distros to see the different kinds of "magic" they're casting, but I always end up at Arch again sooner or later.

  15. Maybe it's just me looking for issues, but my hard drive feels warmer than it did when I was running Windows 7.

  16. @mv I've already got Arch on two desktops in my house. Windows 7 on the netbook was getting tired, so I wanted to try something else. Figured I'd see what Ubuntu patched together to make it "just work" and go from there.

  17. @mv So far, so good but if past patterns repeat, I'll get frustrated about not being able to remove some package due to dependencies I'll never use and throw # on it instead.

  18. @misstech: Missed this notice in the stream. Had a lot going on in real life that's taken me away from OMB and the like lately.

  19. I know I'm probably going to regret it in an hour or two, but I just put Ubuntu's Lucid beta on my Aspire One.

  20. @edythemighty So, you got StatusNet up and running on Dreamhost, did you? Overall, how's it working out?
